Meals on Wheels Program

About our program

Our Meals on Wheels program has been serving the greater Janesville area since 1970, and was the first program launched in Rock County and only the second in the state of Wisconsin!  Nutritional meals are prepared by the Mercyhealth dietary staff and delivered daily, seven days a week, 365 days a year.  Citizens that use this service are homebound senior citizens, disabled citizens, and those that are unable to shop or prepare their own meals. For nearly 50 years, our program has grown from 1 route with 7 daily clients to over 10 routes and 140 daily clients and serving nearly 44,000 meals a year.  The program delivers meals within the city limits of Janesville.

Wisconsin Background Check Law

As part of our program, our Meals on Wheels clients are our first priority. Effective November 1, 2016, background checks will be required for the Meals on Wheels community volunteers. We are required by the State of Wisconsin Caregiver Background Check Law to provide background checks on any volunteers who come in contact with our clients.

What this means for you

This means we are asking you to fill out the State of Wisconsin Background Information Disclosure Form and the Mercyhealth Information Disclosure Form. Even if you’re a volunteer for a different organization, or you have been volunteering for years, you will still need to complete the Background Information Disclosure forms for the State of Wisconsin and for Mercyhealth.
